The TrueCall device was first brought into the public eye as a result of the Dragon’s Den programme. It made Dragon’s Den TV history when Duncan Bannatyne, Deborah Meaden, James Caan, Theo Paphitis and Peter Jones all wanted to invest in the company.
Finally, TrueCall accepted the bid of Peter Jones, a telecoms, media and property tycoon, of £100,000 for a 12.5% stake – the tiniest equity that Mr Jones has ever taken on the show.
Peter said that trueCall is his favourite gadget out of all the products he had seen in six series of Dragon’s Den.
Steve Smith of TrueCall said: “I’m really excited to be working with Peter. Support from any of the Dragons would have been terrific, but he has offered us the best deal – telecoms expertise, international sales channels and brilliant business know-how.”
